Earlier this year, Suzuki launched their refreshed Swift hatchback. However, they didn’t reveal a Suzuki Swift Sport variant. That time has come with a single image.
From the one piece of media, immediately the hot hatch gives off a sporty presence with GTI-esque rims on each corner, enlarged front grille, flared out wheel arches and additional body modifications.
Instead of the naturally aspirated 1.6-litre four pot engine current models are powered by, new Suzuki Swift Sport hatchbacks will borrow a motor from the Vitara lineup.
Reports have the 1.4-litre BoosterJet motor finding a second home to power the front wheels. Rated at 138 horsepower and 220 Nm of torque, it will certainly provide enough kick to get the hatchback moving.
As well as a new motor, Suzuki Swift Sport Models are said to weigh in at 870 kilos. Combine the two, and the new model is ready to set the hot hatch market a blaze.
No word has been spoken about the interior, although it’s a safe bet that each of the five seats receives some sort of dual tone appearance with two contrasting colours.
Suzuki’s next iteration of the Swift Sport is set to make its grand debut later this year in Frankfurt with sales expected to start shortly after or early 2018. Keep the 12th of September in your diaries as that is when the show starts.
Expect a premium price tag over standard Swift models that will most certainly be worth every penny.
