Yes, you read that right! Tesla is finally opening their doors to the UAE with their first showroom. Located on the picturesque Shaikh Zayed Road, while you stare intensely at these all-electric cars, the Burj Khalifa serves as the perfect backdrop.
Just to set the record straight, the showroom officially opens tonight but is closed off to the public until tomorrow. Tesla is keeping a tight lip on the launch this evening, but we expect their entire all-electric lineup to be present including their latest model; the Model 3.
Tesla’s latest model is estimated to have a 560-kilometre range for a single charge. Perfect for heading down to Jebel Hafeet and back to Dubai without having to recharge.
Some out there may be wondering how and where to charge these cars. Not to worry as the American manufacturer already have plans to install Superchargers in prime locations including Jebel Ali and Masdar City.
These rechargers will also pop up in Hatta and Al Ain for those travelling long distances. Charging the battery to 50% takes a mere 20 minutes while a fully charged battery takes 75 minutes to charge.
Local prices haven’t been announced although reports suggest Model 3 sedan’s start at AED 110,000. Delivery for these vehicles is expected to start later this year or early 2018. If you are interested, head down to the showroom tomorrow and put down a deposit of AED 4,000 for your chance to be one of the first owners of a GCC spec Tesla.
If you’re anticipating the launch of Tesla cars in the UAE and you didn’t get an invite, you’ll have to wait another 15 hours until their doors are open to the public.
We’ll keep you in the loop when we uncover more information about the all-electric cars.
