Is a Ferrari SUV in the pipeline?

Remember when Ferrari said they would never build an SUV? It appears they may have retracted their decision as recent reports suggest a Ferrari SUV is in the works and is set to debut in 2021.

Reportedly tagged as the F16X internally, the Ferrari SUV is currently being worked on alongside the GTC4 successor which in turn is rumoured to launch a year earlier than the SUV in 2020.

As of writing, little information about the Ferrari SUV is known. Reports propose the enlarged Ferrari to ride on a lightweight aluminium platform, no traditional B-Pillar for the rear suicide doors to fit and traditional Ferrari styling.

Regarding performance, power is rumoured to be drawn from a V8 petrol motor or a hybrid powertrain. Due to its enlarged nature, all-wheel drive will be standard and will most likely be carried over from the GTC4.

Without a doubt, the Ferrari SUV will have its sites firmly set on the Aston Martin DBX and their arch rivals Lamborghini Urus.

Insiders have also managed to squeeze a price for the Ferrari SUV with one example priced at over $342,135 or AED 1,256,660.

It remains a mystery why Ferrari have reverted their decision to build an SUV. One factor could be someone high up the food chain have realised how crucial it is to have an SUV offering within their lineup.

Who’s next in line to reverse their decision on building an SUV? McLaren immediately springs to mind.
