First showcased at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix back in 2015, UAE-based Zarooq Motors first model is now on sale in the country. Kicking off production with a limited edition run of 35 vehicles, the SandRacer 500 GT is capable of traversing the Empty Quarter during the day and cruising through JBR on a Friday night.
Weighing in at 1,200 kilogrammes, the SandRacer 500 GT sports aggressive exterior styling bolted to a road legal racing chassis and a unique rear diffuser that can be removed to transform the off-road beast to an asphalt-munching machine and vice versa.
Powering the SandRacer 500 GT is a mid-mounted 6.2-litre V8 petrol motor rated at a respectable 525 horsepower and 660 Nm of torque with power sent to the rear wheels.
While Zarooq Motors may be a locally based company, the SandRacer 500 GT is certainly an international affair. Its built-in roll cage and lightweight chassis are designed by Spain’s Campos Racing who happen to know a thing or two when it comes to racing machines.
The lightweight carbon-fibre constructed body is crafted in Belgium, and its hand-stitched leather upholstery is created by Mansory, in Germany who you may have heard of due to their upgrades to select bespoke manufacturers including Mercedes, Range Rover and Bentley.
Its initial run of 35 units is priced at $450,000 or AED 1.7 Million each with deliveries expected for the fourth quarter of 2017.
Not too long ago, we also heard there would be an exclusive one-make off-road racing series with the SandRacer 500 GT along with a dedicated off-road arrive and drive circuit built somewhere in the Desert.
