I know exactly what you are thinking. What and who is Borgward? As always, we are here to help. Borgward is a car manufacturer who ceased production almost 50 years ago. In 2008, the name was bought back, and their first production model is to arrive in the UAE in the near future.
Borgward vehicles in the UAE will be available from Union Motors, with the Borgward BX7 severing as their first entrant into the GCC market with more cars to follow shortly afterwards. A hybrid version is also on the way but we are unsure when these models will be made available.
Little information about GCC models is known. However, we are aware that other markets receive a 2-litre turbocharged four cylinder petrol motor mated to a seven-speed dual clutch transmission.
Regarding safety, these SUV’s are fitted with collision assist, adaptive cruise control, brake assistance and a 360-degree camera. Inside, a 12.3-inch infotainment system is said to adorn the dashboard with smartphone integration including Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
Seating arrangements cater to those who want a standard SUV interior, those with a large family and a VIP experience with five, six, and seven seater options.
Measuring in at 4.7-metres in length, the BX7 has a boot capacity of 1,344 litres with the rear seats folded flat.
How much BX7 models will cost remains a mystery and when they launch hasn’t been penned down as of now. When we know more, we’ll keep you posted.
