Recently we posted about the 2018 M5 shipping with a crazy 600 horsepower from its finely tuned engine. Now the German brand has revealed new information about the extreme sedan including its drive train.
All that power is courtesy of 4.4-litre twin-turbocharged V8 petrol motor. Mated to an 8-speed M Steptronic transmission, the executive car launches to 100 in a mere 3.5 seconds.
But you already knew about all of that. This post is about the M xDrive all-wheel drive system. BMW have put in hundreds of hours to create a system to control lateral and longitudinal directions.
All though it says all-wheel drive on paper, the 2018 M5 will mainly be rear-wheel drive with the highly intelligent system sending power to the front axle only when needed or selected.
Drivers can choose between three unique modes; 2WD, 4WD and 4WD Sport. All of them being self-explanatory.
Aside from the elaborate all-wheel drive train, the 2018 M5 has an Active M Differential which sends power to both rear wheels evenly.
Inside, the 2018 M5 receives identical trim and features to the standard 5-series with some of its own flair. This includes an M Sports steering wheel, exclusive shifter knob and two M exclusive buttons. Also included, is an upgraded Heads-Up Display complete with navigation, graphics and a larger display area.
2018 M5 models will make their grand debut later this year with many sources indicating the German Motor Show will play host to its arrival.
Still a few months away, it gives you plenty of time to buy a new BMW 5-Series or a used BMW 5-Series for sale in Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman and Abu Dhabi.
