Mercedes-AMG boss Tobias Moers may have hinted at the possibility we’ll never see a Black Series C 63 arriving anytime soon. However, he has recently confirmed the Mercedes-AMG A 45 will ship with a staggering amount of horsepower.
402 horses to be exact, which is an insane amount when you remember that the Mercedes-AMG A 45 is a hatchback.
Over the years, both Mercedes and Audi have been scrapping it out for hot hatch dominance with Audi currently wearing the crown with their 395 hp RS3 Sportback. Mercedes are looking to snatch that crown back with the nex gen A 45.
It remains a mystery how exactly they are pumping so much power through the A 45’s veins, but we do know that the 2-litre petrol motor is here to stay.
When can you expect to get your hands on the next generation of Mercedes-AMG A 45 hot hatch? Not until 2019, so start saving those dirhams now.
On top of the 400 horsepower motor, you can expect the Mercedes-AMG A 45 to ship with an all-new exterior with hints of the Concept A recently shown off in China. It’s also said to ship with two large digital displays for the instrument gauges and media similar to that of the current E and S-Class models.
With this in mind, what has Audi and other rivals got in store for the hot hatch segment? We’ll have to wait and see.
