Mercedes show off updated S-Class dash and features

We’ve already caught a glimpse of the Mercedes S-Class ou in the field, but we’ve yet to catch wind on what the brand has in store for the S-Class Dash.

Instead of poking a camera through the windows, Mercedes has done one better and revealed in official pictures what’s to come.

As you would expect, the S-Class Dash retains the two high definition 12-inch displays. However, there is more to it than meets the eye.

The German powerhouse has upgraded the Active Distance Assist Distronic and Active Steering Assist that allows the S-Class to maintain a safe distance as well as steer itself in small doses and automatically adjust its speed while navigating corners.

Semi-Autonomous features implemented in the new S-Class dash include car-to-x communication, active lane change assist, active blind spot detection, remote parking assist, traffic sign recognition, evasive steering assist just to name a few.

With car-to-x communication activated, the vehicle alerts the driver of any hazard on the road. Instead of using various messages and filling up the S-Class dash, the system uses verbal warnings in order for the driver to keep their eyes on the road.

Active lane change assist allows drivers just to position the indicator stick up or down and the vehicle takes car of the rest. When clicked into place, sensors on the desired side check if the lane is free and the car moves itself into place.

As for evasive steering assist, when and if the vehicle detects a pedestrian in the danger zone, the vehicle applies a little extra to the steering motion to help avoid any accidents.

Updated S-Class dash configuration’s and the model itself are set to be on show in New York this week as well as the Shanghai Motor show.

Until then, we’ve got new Mercedes-Benz S-Class and used Mercedes-Benz S-Class for sale in Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman and Abu Dhabi.
