With plenty on display in Geneva, McLaren has taken the opportunity to show off their first model of the second generation super-series lineup. Built on an all-new lightweight platform, the McLaren 720S is ready to pounce.
Weighing in at 1,283 kilos, McLarens latest sports car utilises a carbon fibre chassis with a Monocage II body bolted onto the 720S making it lighter, faster and agiler than the outgoing model.
McLaren 720S models sport the brand’s distinct markings with a few tweaks here and there. Radiator intakes have been moved from the side of the vehicle with cold air now being channelled to the engine via the ‘double-skin’ aerodynamic exterior, and eye-catching new headlights create a sleeker design for the British supercar.
The interior appears familiar with the brand’s distinct centrally mounted touchscreen multimedia display, but there are repackaged bucket seats, restyled dashboard and steering wheel plus the buttons and dials have moved closer to the driver for easier use.
Powering the McLaren 720S is a 4-litre V8 twin-turbocharged petrol motor with 720 horsepower on tap. The British-built supercar can blast to 100 km/h in a mere 2.9 seconds and a top speed of 341 km/h. Not only does it put the vehicle further up the pecking order than the current Lamborghini Huracan, it perfectly rivals the Aventador with its firebreathing 12 cylinders.
It’s not all cosmetic, and power changes as McLaren have added new suspension, Proactive Chassis Control, electro-hydraulic steering and a dedicated drift mode to allow the back end to slide out.
Uk pricing has been announced during the show. Base models start at £208,600 or AED 931,000. Order books are now open with first deliveries scheduled for May this year.
There are still a few weeks in between now and the launch of the McLaren 720S giving you plenty of time to browse our selection of new McLaren and used McLaren for sale in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
