We’ve yet to see the revamped Toyota Yaris in the GCC, its destined for showrooms around the world and it may already be there with a new engine nestled in the front.
We’ve already got a 1.5-litre four cylinder petrol motor on sale, however, the Japanese brand has revamped said engine and added a water-cooled exhaust manifold.
A first for Toyota, this new system limits gas temperature to ensure certain mixtures are kept on the down low to decrease temperatures while driving at highway speeds.
This new system paired with the compact four-cylinder motor generates 108 horsepower and 136 Nm of torque. While it isn’t close to their hot hatch version, the Yaris can hit 100 km/h in 11 seconds, 0.8 seconds quicker than the 1.3-litre model.
As of now, this new engine is destined for European, Japanese and American models of the Toyota Yaris. We’ll have to wait until later this year to see if the engine hits UAE showrooms along with the new shape.
