Seven seater Lexus RX vehicle in the pipeline

What’s the one thing you wanted adding to the Lexus RX series? A V8 motor? A ludicrously over the top body kit to scare your neighbours? Well, you’re not getting either of those. Instead, you’re getting an extra row of seats in the back.

Presumed to launch later in the year as a 2018 model, the seven seater Lexus RX model has its eyes firmly locked on the likes of Volvo’s XC90 and Mercedes-Benz’s GLS-Series amongst other luxurious seven seaters.

These extended Lexus RX models are said to keep the same powertrains found in the RX350 and RX450h. A selection of 3.5-litre V6 motors, with one having an inbuilt hybrid system.

On top of the extended Lexus RX launching in the near future, there are persistent rumours that additional crossover models are to join the ranks. A few months ago at the Paris Motor Show, the Japanese brand showcased their UX concept study of a smaller model.

Since the event, Lexus has patented the UX200, UX250 and UX250h names. This new model is presumably taking over from the CT hatch which served as the brands “entry-level” model. Not much is known about these upcoming models, however, with these badges patented we’re taking a shot in the dark and saying four cylinder motors will be found underneath the bonnet.

Looking for a sharp looking crossover from a Japanese powerhouse? We’ve got new Lexus RX and used Lexus RX for sale in Dubai, Sharjah, Abu Dhabi and Ajman.

Note: Seven seater RX not shown.
