Not every day does an Environmental Department confirm that petrol-sipping machine is on its way. America’s Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has done just that as the department has confirmed the existence of the Dodge Challenger GT.
Not only will this model serve as a new trim level, but it sports a new drive train not seen in any Challenger before. Instead of sending brute force to the rear wheels, power is channelled to all four wheels giving drivers extra traction and a range of other benefits when it comes to driving.
Powering the new drive train is a V6 3.6-litre petrol motor. Power is said to remain identical with outputs of 305 horsepower and 363 Nm of torque. An automatic version has also been confirmed by the EPA. It’s unknown if the American brand will sell a manual version.
Apart from the drivetrain and badges, the Challenger GT has slightly different fuel economy numbers compared to stock models. Interior and exterior features appear to be identical to current models.
Challenger GT models are to launch alongside the 2017 Challenger rear wheel drive models. No price or official date has been spoken of. We’re expecting the cars to launch in the coming months.

Let’s hope this won’t be the only all-wheel drive vehicle to come out of the Challenger stable as it would work wonders stuck underneath the Hellcat.
