Toyota Land Cruiser Pickup updated for 2017

No need to change the look of the exterior if people still buy right? This is one question that presumably floats around board meetings at Toyota when it comes to updating the Land Cruiser Pickup. Now that over 30 years have gone by, it’s time to keep the good looks once again while adding a dash of modern tech to create a desirable package.

From the outside, it’s identical no doubt about it, but peel the skin back and you’ll find thicker body panels, a larger and stiffer frame which helps the Land Cruiser Pickup snatch up a five-star rating in terms of safety. Inside, the Japanese giant has added additional airbags and a set of new front seats.

Having a five-star crash test is not the end of improved safety as Toyota have added Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD), Stability Control (VSC), Active Traction Control (A-TRC), Hill-Start Assist Contol (HAC) and Brake Assist. It’s unconfirmed if these are standard or optional extras.

Updated Land Cruiser Pickup models are readily available in Australia and hold a price tag of $62,490 or AED 174,410 for the two-door model. As the model is popular in the UAE, these enchantments should make their way to the UAE and surrounding regions within the next few months.

Down under, the V8 4.5-litre turbo-diesel has been revised and also features new tech to provide 202 horsepower and 430 Nm of torque.
