Circulating a racetrack somewhere in Germany, the 2017 Porsche 911 GT3 has been spotted with a mild refresh applied. However, that’s not all. There is another extremely exciting piece of kit buried within the model.
With a revised front end, the 2017 911 GT3 now looks more aggressive as not only does the front lip sit lower to the ground, the air intakes are revised as are the LED indicators. At the back, the vents above the engine are thinner and sharper and the brand has replaced the old rear diffuser with a new one. Everything else is identical to current models.
It’s not only a new face this GT3 is sporting, powering the rear wheels and due to popular demand is a six-speed manual gearbox! That’s right, mated to the potent 3.8-litre flat six cylinder, die hard fans and those looking to make a mess of their seats can buy a Porsche with a stick that isn’t an R model.
Many sources are claiming, the three pedal monster along with the automatic version are destined to launch before the end of 2016. GT3 RS models are set to receive this gearbox as well and there is speculation that manual box could return to the entire 911 range. Will this be the rebirth of the manual transmission?
Hardly. As many big sport car manufacturers have admitted to being “done” with stick shift this includes Ferrari.
