Toyota files new patent, FT-4X. Could be FJ Cruiser successor.

Earlier in the year, the robust desert traveller Toyota had in their stable known simply as the FJ Cruiser ceased production around the world. At first, it appeared as if no successor would take its place, but with the automotive brand snapping up a new patent, that could change shortly.

As of earlier today, Toyota has filed a new patent with the name FT-4X. Using are expect investigating skills and a little bit of our brain to piece together what this means.

Over the past years, Toyota used the letters FT and attached them to future projects much like the FT-1 that “will one day hit the streets” although in a different guise if the BMW and Toyota pairing hits the streets. Or maybe we’ll actually see the beautiful creation roll the streets in the near future.

Toyota also used a similar set of letters just before the Toyota GT86 was officially launched. Here, the Japanese brand used the moniker FT-86.

The other dead giveaway is the 4X part which can only mean one thing, four wheel drive. With Jeep putting together a new wrangler, Ford is bringing the Bronco back to life as is Land Rover with the Defender.

If this is the case, we’re sure the UAE is ready to gobble up any of these upcoming offroaders as is the US, Australia, South Africa and GCC countries especially if the Toyota brand adorns the front grille.

Looking for a rugged off-roader. We’ve got new Toyota FJ Cruiser and used Toyota FJ Cruiser for sale in Dubai, Sharjah and Abu Dhabi.
