Tesla has given its Model 3 electric car the long-awaited mid-cycle update. The updates on the 2024 Tesla Model 3 give it a striking new design, updated cabin and features, improved range and ride quality. Despite being a mid-cycle update, there are several changes to the new Model 3. Let us start with the exteriors.
New Tesla Model 3 Exterior Updates
Front:
- New slim headlights with sleeker LED DRLs replace the bulky-looking units on the old Model 3.
- The front bumper is updated and the fog lamps on the older model are gone on the new one.
- New creases and lines make the front look aggressive.
Side:
- Newly-designed 18-inch and 19-inch wheels.
- The overall silhouette of the car remains unchanged on the new Model 3.
Rear:
- The tail lights now do not split and are a part of the boot lid.
- To comply with the laws and legislation, there are fog lamps placed on the new rear bumper.
Other Exterior Updates:
- Gets two new exterior colours: Ultra Red & Stealth Gray.
- The new Model 3 is longer by around 25mm mostly due to the new design.
- Changes in the design have improved the aerodynamic efficiency from Cd 0.225 to Cd 0.219, making the new Model 3 the most aerodynamic car in Tesla’s line-up.
New Tesla Model 3 Interior Updates
The dashboard is updated with a new air-vent design and gets ambient lighting placed at the edge of the windscreen. The co-passenger air vents can be controlled individually. Also seen inside, is a new 3-spoke steering wheel with buttons for indicator and cruise control placed on the wheel itself. The outgoing model had stalks for both, which are now removed in the new Model 3. Finally, the front seats now feature heating and cooling, while the rear seats are perforated for a premium feel.
Tesla has made a few improvements to reduce the NVH levels of the car to make it quieter. These include:
- Acoustic glass is added for the rear windows and windshield.
- Sound deadening material increased to isolate the cabin from ambient noise.
- Improved tyres for reduced road noise.
- Improved fit and finish with upgraded material quality
New Tesla Model 3 Technology Updates
The 15.4-inch portrait touchscreen remains the same hardware-wise. However, Tesla has fiddled with the software to make the user experience smoother. Another update is the dual mic setup for improved Bluetooth calling. The infotainment also features improved WiFi and wireless smartphone connectivity. Two smartphones can now charge wirelessly at the same time.
In terms of entertainment, the rear passengers now get an 8-inch screen placed behind the centre console to enjoy the content and control features of the car. The audio system on the dual-motor model gets upgraded to a 17-speaker system as compared to the 14-speaker unit on the older version.
New Tesla Model 3 Range & Mechanical Updates
The new Model 3 features the same motor and battery and continues to be offered in single-motor RWD and dual-motor AWD setups. However, Tesla has managed to improve the range of the new Model 3 with improved aerodynamic efficiency and optimisations to the electric powertrain.
New Model 3: Improved Range Figures
- RWD: 554km (65km more than the previous Model 3)
- AWD: 678km (76km more than the previous Model 3)
When it comes to 0 to 100km/h times, the rear-wheel-drive model completes the sprint in 6.1 seconds, while the powerful AWD achieves it in 4.4 seconds.
Apart from the improved range, Tesla has also announced that they have upgraded the suspension on the new Model 3 to provide a plusher ride. This includes new springs, suspension mounting points and bushes.
New Tesla Model 3 In The UAE
Tesla’s website in the UAE is already updated with the new Model 3 ready to be ordered. If you order now, expect your new Tesla Model 3 to arrive sometime in November 2023 according to the website. The 2024 Tesla Model 3 RWD is priced at AED 174,990 and the AWD model is priced at AED 204,990. The optional 19-inch wheels cost AED 6,500.
