Hyundai has unveiled the new Santa Fe SUV with an all-new design language. The fifth-generation Santa Fe follows a boxy-design profile to free up more space on the inside. According to the brand, the midsize SUV’s exterior and interior displays a radical transformation that appeals to both urban and off-road SUV lovers.
The 2024 Santa Fe’s global premiere is scheduled for August and will be showcased via the brand’s official YouTube channel. Hyundai will completely reveal the upcoming SUV and all its details at the launch event. For now, here’s our take on the design and other details.
New Santa Fe Exterior Design
The new Santa Fe features new H-shaped design elements that reinterpret Hyundai’s ‘H’ emblem. This was first witnessed on the Hyundai Exter micro-SUV launched for Asian markets. Also, the Santa Fe has undergone a complete design overhaul for the first time since 2018 and does not carry forward any of the design elements from the outgoing model.
From the front, the SUV looks to be out of a retro 16-bit gaming console with its boxy shape and H-shaped DRLs on either side connected via a light bar, which also serves as a DRL. At first, you might mistake the SUV for a concept. But that just shows how the new design is a bold move from Hyundai.
Other Design Features:
- The H-shaped profile flows down to the front bumper.
- The radar module in the middle of the bumper enables ADAS.
- Boxy silhouette with brushed aluminum accents at the D-pillar on the side.
- Octagonal-shaped design on wheel arches for a premium touch.
- 15-spoke dual-tone 21-inch alloy wheels may come as standard.
- Expansive boot lid from top to rear bumper, offering a large access area.
- Sleek H-shaped elements on taillights maintain the design flow.
New Santa Fe Interiors
Hyundai is yet to reveal complete details regarding the interior design changes. From the images released, we can notice the large curved display. This will house two 12.3-inch screens for the instrument cluster and the infotainment.
The modern-retro theme is carried on the inside as well with horizontally placed air vents that seamlessly merge with the dashboard’s design creating a sense of space. The interior exudes elegance with its soft-touch wood-patterned garnish and Nappa leather seats adorned with intricate embroidery, adding a touch of refined style.
Other Interior Features
- Recycled plastic is used in suede headliners, car mats, and second & third-row seatbacks.
- Fully foldable second and third-row seats provide class-leading interior space.
- Dual wireless charger, panoramic sunroof, multiple zone climate control.
- Eco-friendly leatherette on crash pad and door trim covers.
Powertrain
The engine and the gearbox options for the new Santa Fe will be revealed by the brand in August. We expect the new Santa Fe to be offered with 2.5-litre petrol and 1.6-litre turbo petrol engine options carried over from the outgoing model. The SUV could also feature FWD and AWD configurations. Hyundai could offer the 2024 Santa Fe in the plug-in hybrid version as well.
The Hyundai Santa Fe with its boxy design could appeal to SUV lovers more than its flagship Palisade. However, engine options on the Santa Fe could become the deciding factor for its success.
