Revealed last week, the 2020 Toyota Rav4 TRD is a rugged version of the popular compact SUV.
Unveiled as a complete surprise to media and onlookers at the recent Chicago Motor Show, the TRD Rav4 has a number of noteworthy features to get you moving where no Rav4 has gone before.
Each corner is fitted with lightweight TRD 18-inch matte black alloys covered in All-Terrain rubber. The model gets TRD exclusive exterior and interior options but the icing on the cake is what can’t be seen.
Underneath the tough exterior is an off-road tuned suspension system inspired by the Rally Rav4 race car used in America.
The unique suspension system is designed “to enhance body control and small bump isolation to help smooth out trails and rough city streets.” This is achieved thanks to custom red coil springs and re-valved twin-tube shocks.

As standard, the Dynamic Torque Vectoring all-wheel-drive system can channel up to 50% of engine torque to the rear axle, as well as direct torque to the right or left. This results in better handling both on and off road.
Additionally, the model is equipped with a Multi-Terrain Select system as standard too. It allows drivers to maximize traction by selecting from three distinct modes: Mud & Sand, Rock & Dirt and Snow.
Also included is Hill Start Assist Control (HAC), Downhill Assist Control (DAC) and Downhill Assist Control (DAC).

Inside and out, TRD has applied a set of aggressive bumpers, bespoke grille and front LED fog lights, while the cabin gets plush leather seats with SofTex seat surfaces and TRD stitching.
The 2.5-litre four-cylinder 203hp engine is connected to an eight-speed Direct-Shift Automatic Gearbox. The 2020 Toyota RAV4 TRD is rated to tow up to 1,587 kg, allowing it to tow stuff such as dirt bikes, ATVs or a personal watercraft.
2020 Toyota Rav4 TRD models will arrive in the US later this year. UAE availability is unknown but importing one shouldn’t be too much of a problem.
