Its been four years since the current Vitara was introduced at the 2014 Paris Auto Show, while not looking outdated as such, the Japanese brand has added and revised a few things for the 2019 Suzuki Vitara.
Suzuki’s latest Vitara is fitted with a refreshed front grille, revised bumper, new taillights and two new colours for customers to choose from.
Furthermore, the cabin is fitted with a revised dashboard cluster which is now equipped with colour centre information display. The additions stop there as the entire cabin is fitted with soft touch plastics plus Suzuki has mentioned there is some “new technology” to look forward to.
New for 2019 is the turbocharged petrol engines available of which there are two to choose from, a 1.0- and 1.4-litre which were first introduced in the S-Cross last year. The latter of the two replaces the current 1.6-litre unit.
No information has been revealed regarding trim levels for the 2019 Suzuki Vitara, but there is mention of SZ4, SZ-T and SZ5. The former two are powered by the 1.0-litre unit rated t a109 horsepower. Suzuki’s signature AllGrip four-wheel drive system is available as an option on the SZ-T connected to a manual gearbox.
The SZ5 gets the larger 1.4-litre engine with 138 horsepower and 220 Nm of torque. This ‘version’ is fitted with a number of driver assistance features; rear cross traffic alert, blind spot monitor, traffic sign recognition, lane departure warning and prevention plus dual sensor brake support.
Pricing and availability for the 2019 Suzuki Vitara will be announced closer to the launch date. The vehicle is expected to be revealed in September 2018.
