With the Volkswagen Golf R and Ford Focus ST running rampant in the Hot Hatch segment, one tends to forget that Renault has their own Hot Hatch. The 2019 Renault Megane RS has arrived in the UAE and is ready to do battle.
Following styling cues applied to the Talisman and Koles, the Megane RS is certainly a head turner especially with the colour choices on offer. With hulking wheel arches, larger wheels and a centrally mounted exhaust, the 2019 Renault Megane RS is ready for a quick run around the track.
And if you take a closer look at the front end, you’ll notice the Renault Sport logo is cleverly disguised as LED Daytime Running Lights.
Inside, the latest model gets Alcantara sports seats and a number of high-quality materials lining the cabin.
For the latest iteration, Renault has ditched the 2.0-litre engine in favour of a lighter and smaller 1.8-litre turbocharged petrol power unit. Although now with 200 less CC, the latest 2019 Renault Megane RS pushes auto 275 horsepower and 390 Nm of torque.
Connected to a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox driving the front axle, the Megane RS sprints from 0-100 in 5.8 seconds and an undisclosed top speed.
The RS was never intended to break any speed records. Instead, Renault has built the Hot hatch with handling and cornering in mind as the vehicle is equipped with a stiff chassis, four-wheel steering and an impressive suspension setup.
Prices start at AED 119,900 for the 2019 Renault Megane RS which is less compared to the VW Golf R line up.
