BMW has been rather busy working diligently on the new 2019 BMW X5. Taking it all across the globe including the Arctic Circle, South Africa, Germany, Sweden and the U.S, the German automotive brand has released a few images and juicy details.
Entering its fourth generation, for the first time, the 2019 BMW X5 will be available with an offroad package making it not only the perfect choice for school runs but for a spot of off-road driving. Dune bashing may be a bit far-fetched.
BMW claims the new pack will offer impressive balance between high ride comfort on the road, and off-road ability. With a press of a button, users can prep the vehicle for either sand, rocks, gravel and snow. The model will also feature Adaptive M Suspension Professional and Integral Active Steering system, which is also a first for the X5.
A fresh face for the 2019 BMW X5
BMW has yet to say when exactly they’ll uncloak the new X5, however, from the images provided and various spy shots we’ve seen, the luxury SUV will debut with a more aggressive look along with a new front end complete with a larger grille. The model will also benefit from enlarged air intakes and unmistakable headlights with LED daytime running lights.
From the teaser images, the 2019 BMW X5 will remain mostly unchanged, but it will grow in size both inside and out. With that said, the cabin will feature the latest generation of BMW’s token iDrive system with 7.0 operating system and a new digital dashboard cluster. Drivers will also notice the new steering wheel, revised gear shifter and modernised centre console with a wide range of controls.
The Bavarian manufacturer has kept a lid on what to expect regarding powertrains, although we expect the 2019 BMW X5 to be offered with a wide range of motors. Regarding petrol power, there’s a possibility of a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder unit with an output of 248 horsepower as well as a 335 hp 3.0-litre straight six. We also expect the 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 to power the X5 M with 592 hp on tap. A plug-in hybrid model is also expected along with a handful of diesel variants ranging from 228 hp to 394 hp.
