This past week, BMW’s official importer in Dubai, Sharjah and the Northern Emirates, AGMC, lifted the wraps off the all-new 2019 BMW X5 in Sharjah. One of BMW’s most popular models within the region, the X5 is known for its luxurious statement and versatility.
Pitting the outgoing and latest model of the X5, the 2019 model has grown in size and benefits from new muscular lines evident on the bonnet and sides. Inside, the model has also been revised with a new steering wheel, revised gear shifter with a jewel-like presence and a revised centre console complete with new digital dashboard and updated iDrive onboard computer system.
UAE customers have the choice of fitting their 2019 BMW X5 with one of two engines. The first of the two is an inline six-cylinder petrol motor rated at 340 horsepower and 450 Nm of torque. The other is an uprated 4.4-litre V8 petrol engine good for 462 horsepower. Both are connected to an 8-speed automatic gearbox and four-wheel-drive is standard across the board.
As for performance, with the straight six, the 2019 X5 launches from 0-100 km/h in 5.5 seconds while the V8 achieves the feat in 4.7 seconds.
New for 2019 is the off-road package which includes air suspension front and back, additional underbody cladding to protect the essential parts and new displays in the instrument panel. Opting for the package will also net drivers four driving modes to optimise the transmission, acceleration and stability control system to suit driving off-road.
