Not too long ago, a 2019 BMW 1-Series was spotted out in the wild with revisions to the exterior. However, this fresh batch of images could be showing off a performance derived model.
As we mentioned in the previous article, 2019 BMW 1-Series will drop the rear-wheel drive layout for a front-wheel format instead. This will result in additional space for rear passengers.
Back to the performance version. From the photos, we can see two exhaust pipes sticking out of the rear end, larger rims wrapped in thinner rubber with larger brakes hiding behind and a touch of aggression is evident.
Said to take on the M140i nameplate, it world serve as a direct competitor to the Ford Focus RS and Mercedes-AMG 45. Both of those have all-wheel drive setups, which would lead us to believe BMW would do the same. That is if they want to keep up with the 400 horses AMG are pumping through their hatches veins.
Alongside the performance version, a selection of increased fuel-efficient petrol motors will join the ranks. There is also a plug-in hybrid motor said to be in the pipelines. An all-electric BMW 1-Series is also being considered.
There are also rumours that when the new drivetrain is introduced, BMW may remove the two-door 1-Series lineup. Although this model is not available in the GCC market and is rarely seen here, two-door models are available in select markets including Europe.
Until the drivetrain swaps position, we’ve got rear-wheel drive used BMW 1-Series for sale in Dubai.
