TRD is Toyota Racing Development program and every now and then they add a dash of race craft or luxury to unsuspecting models in the Toyota camp. Both the Tundra and Fortuner are prime examples of this but what about the sedans? It appears that the Japanese brand is currently processing the idea of a Toyota Camry TRD in 2018 trim.
Spotted in the US, this particular Camry is not only hiding what the 2018 sedan is to look like but appears to be beefed up as well giving us the impression that TRD is working on something.

What makes this stand out as a Toyota Camry TRD is the larger rear end, spoiler and quad exhaust tips sticking out the back. These are all telltale signs of a hardcore model.
That’s not all, a set of blacked out sports rims covered in low profile rubber, enhanced front end with a protruding lip, sharper air intakes and the anger grille that rests between the lights.
What is unknown is the power unit. The 3.5-litre V6 version is still used in American models and will most likely be a candidate for the Toyota Camry TRD after some fine tuning. Currently producing 268 horses, the brand will have to hop to the drawing board ASAP to keep up with the Ford Fusion Sport which currently produces 325 horsepower.
