Mercedes are going all out on home soil later this month. Not only will they show off the latest G-Wagen limited edition and standard S-Class coupe, 2018 S63 AMG Coupe and Cabriolet models will be on display.
2018 S63 AMG Coupe models will ditch the current 5.5-litre V8 for a twin-turbo 4-litre V8 rated at an impressive 603 horsepower. Mated to an AMG Speedshift MCT 9G transmission, both two-door coupe and convertible models launch to 100 km/h in an impressive 3.4 seconds before hitting a top speed of 300 km/h.
Also present is AMG’s signature Cylinder Mangement cylinder deactivation system. As with similar systems, individual cylinder banks are ‘switched off’ when not required.
S65 models retain the beastly 6-litre twin-turbo V12 engine pushing out 621 horses driving the rear wheels. This allows the range topping machine to accelerate to 100 km/h in four seconds.
Is there more to the 2018 S63 AMG Coupe?
There’s more than power changes to be found with the 2018 S63 AMG Coupe. Similar to that of non-AMG models, OLED taillights flank either side of the rear while a Panamerica grille highlights the front end.
Each corner of S65 models sport a new set of 16-spoke, eye-catching 20-inch alloys which appear to twist towards the centre which creates the illusion of a larger size.
Hiding behind these stunning rims are 15.4-inch composite brakes with six-piston aluminium calipers mounted up front, and 14.2-inch brakes bolted to the rear with single piston calipers.
Mercedes fans are in for a real treat this year in Frankfurt.
