Launched earlier in the year in select GCC countries, 2018 Renault Megane sedans have arrived in the UAE with a fresh look inside and out; it’s ready to do battle with the Honda Civic and Chevrolet Cruze.
Similar to that of the Talisman, the 2018 Megane benefits from a sloping roofline, Renault’s signature headlights with optional LED’s, multi spoke alloys and traditional rear lights, which are also available with LED’s.
Inside, Renault has certainly put a huge amount of effort to create a class leading interior. A large touchscreen infotainment system highlights the central stack. Drivers are treated to a flat-bottomed sports multi function steering wheel, automatic dual-zone climate control and a keyless start button.
On the safety front, 2018 Renault Megane’s can be had with blind spot warning, parking sensors, reverse camera, electric parking brake and a hands-free boot.
Renault offers a single 1.6-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine for UAE customers. Rated at 115 horsepower and mated to an X-Tronic CVT gearbox driving the front wheels.
Other markets have more variety with a turbocharged petrol motor and three diesel units. A six-speed manual gearbox is also available outside of the UAE.
Prices for 2018 Renault Megane models start at AED 52,900 for basic PE trim and continue upwards to AED 69,500 for the fully loaded LE+ trim level.
It’s unknown if the 2018 Renault Megane will be sold exclusively as a sedan in the region as we’ve yet to hear about both the hatchback and wagon versions.
