Recently, a black Porsche 911 GT3 was spotted casually driving around the countryside before gobbling up all of the tarmac the Nurburgring had to offer, but the vehicle detected has distinct differences to standard GT3 models. Could this be a 2016 Porsche 911 GT2 spotted in the wild?
All indications point to yes, yes it is one as the German manufacturer has confirmed that the GT2 will be part of the line-up before the generation ends and as previously mentioned there are differences between the two. The model caught on camera has larger front air intakes and around the back are hard to spot vents on both sides of the bumper.
This could all lead to a more hardcore version of the 911 GT3 RS except for the hidden vents are usually found on turbocharged motors which the GT3 models do not have.
911 GT2 models often share a similar power plant to ones used in 911 Turbo models with a little extra pumping out of the tailpipes. Seeing as upcoming 911 Turbo S models churn out 580 horsepower, you can expect the GT2 to pump quite a bit extra.

2018 Porsche 911 GT2 models are set to launch next year with an unannounced price and availability.
It’s hard to believe that the German manufacturer was considering to drop the GT2 vehicle from their lineup as current, and upcoming Turbo S models exert massive amounts of power to all four wheels. Then Porsche remembered that there are die hard fans craving for a rear wheel drive train.
