Do your neighbours complain about how noisy your Mustang is when you start it? Ford engineers have taken this into consideration by adding a new drive mode to the 2018 Mustang GT.
With the addition of Good Neighbour mode, instead of screaming to life 2018 Mustang GT models will start up softly and won’t cause those living around you to get mad. It can also be set to a timer to start up quieter than usual just in case you forget. It’s not just limited to start ups either; the mode can be triggered while driving around. Perfect for those late night cruises through JBR and Dubai Marina.
To activate the mode, simply rotate the thumb controls present on the 12-inch instrument panel or via the settings menu on standard 4-inch displays.
Once activated, the mode quietens the 2018 Mustang GT to start up by 72 decibels and as it stands, is an industry first. It shouldn’t come as a surprise to see a similar feature present in newer models. Not just from Ford, but other high-performance auto manufacturers.
An interesting edition to a vehicle synonymous to loud noises, so where did it originate from? Steve Von Foerster, who leads Ford’s user experience team and an owner of the stunning GT350 Shelby came up with the idea when he started his muscle car up early one day only to have angry neighbours complain and call the police.
