2018 Mercedes-AMG S63 cabriolet spotted

Sedan models of the 2018 S-Class have been penned to launch next month after we caught a glimpse of them in testing and at the same time, 2018 Mercedes-AMG S63 Cabriolet models have been spied in Germany with similar camo hiding both the rear and front end.

Unlike the sedan, the 2018 Mercedes-AMG S63 convertible has its entire front end masked. However, this doesn’t stop us from noticing the vertical slatted grille borrowed from the AMG GT R as well has added curves.

A set of redesigned lights also pop out, and as for the rear end, we expect added curves there too.

The facelift is only part of the update for the 2018 Mercedes-AMG S63 Cabriolet. Semi-autonomous features are also said to be hiding behind the camo with the luxury brand working diligently on the project.

By integrating sensor feedback and map data, Mercedes is implementing features for the autonomous parts to read upcoming corners and correctly navigate them if enabled.

Underneath the bonnet is the brands prized 5.5-litre V8 twin-turbo motor that is reported to receive a slight increase in power as is the range-topping V12 found powering the S65 models.

S400 models of the 2018 Mercedes-AMG coupes will also receive a new engine in the guise of a twin-turbo straight six 3-litre unit without AMG’s aid. Base S500 coupe and convertible models are set to receive slightly detuned versions of the 4-litre V8 with twin-turbo induction.
