With the Frankfurt Motor Show done and dusted, there are plenty of model updates still to come. Lexus has announced a few updates to the 2018 Lexus RC lineup.
In 2018 trim, Lexus has ditched the RC 200t moniker in favour for an RC 300. But wait, isn’t there already an RC 300 coupe?
Yes, there is, but for the 2018 Lexus RC lineup, two unique RC 300 models are on offer. One will retain the 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine rated at 241 horsepower. This model will be exclusively available with a rear-wheel drivetrain.
The other RC 300 is only available in AWD and has its very own engine. Lift the bonnet and you’ll find a 3.5-litre V6 with 260 horses on tap.
That’s not confusing at all! Lexus hasn’t said why exactly they’ve done this, but we won’t be surprised to see other Lexus models including NX, RX and IS models to adopt a similar strategy playing host to the 2.0-litre turbo motor.

These models are also powered by the V6 and are available in both rear-wheel and all-wheel drive configurations. Rated at 311 hp, rear-wheel versions are mated to an eight-speed automatic whereas AWD models have a six-speed box instead.
There are other updates besides a renaming structure. Inside, there’s an enlarged infotainment system measuring in at 10.3-inches, new entertainment and safety options.
F-Sport variants receive new drive modes and a new shade of yellow paint for the exterior.
