While the two models did hit the shores of Europe a few months ago, the 2018 Audi A5 Cabriolet along with it’s tuned brethren, the S5 are heading for Detroit to stun the crowds.
While both remain unchanged compared to their coupe siblings apart from the roof and extra support bolted to the undercarriage. Inside, each of the four occupants can soak up the sun while cushioned by fabric or leather seat. Plus there are all the entertainment features available including MMI Navigation, Bang & Olufsen high-end sound system, smartphone integration and for the driver, Audi’s brilliant Virtual Cockpit.
On top of all that, Audi is keen to offer consumers a range of advanced safety features including adaptive cruise control, traffic jam assist system and Audi Pre Sense.
2018 Audi A5 models are equipped with a potent 2-litre turbocharged four-cylinder motor powering all four wheels as standard. 252 horsepower is controlled by a 7-speed S-Tronic dual clutch gearbox enabling the convertible to hit 100 km/h in just over six seconds.
As for the S5 variants, powering all four wheels thanks to the brand’s iconic Quattro system is a 3-litre V6 motor with 354 horsepower on tap. Controlled by an 8-speed Tiptronic box, 0-100 km/h is achieved in just under five seconds.
Both models are of course equipped with a fully electrical operated roof that can fold up or down in a mere 15 seconds at speeds of up to 50 km/h.
