After Nissan’s ridiculous tease of the 2017 Nissan GT-R’s rear end, fanboys (and girls) foamed at the mouth just thinking about what’s to come. More power? More style? More aggression? As of yesterday, if you guessed any of those three things, you were spot on!
Nissan has very kindly pinpointed five key elements that are reviewed for 2017, and they are as follows:
- Exterior Design
- Interior enhancements
- Driving improvements
- Overall ride comfort
- New technology
Starting off with the exterior, straight off the bat you’ll notice the enlarged front end for extra cooling, chrome finished V, which highlights the GT-R moniker, additional grooves in the hood with ventilation holes and sharper lines for increased beauty.
Inside, there are fewer toggle switches 16 to be precise for a more user-friendly cabin. 7-inch display from previous models enlarges to 8-inches for crisper navigation and other media options. Behind the steering wheel remains, enabling drivers to immerse themselves as if they were racing drivers. Seating is still set up for four people, with front seats receiving subtle changes for added comfort.
2017 Nissan GT-R models still thrive on their twin-turbocharged V6 motor, which sends power to all four wheels. Those wizards over in Japan have fine tuned that ever so potent engine to pump out an extra 20 horsepower bringing the total up to 565 hp. With that in mind, 0-100 surely decreases, and top speed increase’s ever so slightly.
With the change, on-demand acceleration increases and that’s not all. A titanium exhaust is fitted underneath, with controls inside the cockpit to reduce or increase the noise generated. Nissan has taken into consideration that those inside may not always want to hear the vehicle scream, they’ve added enhanced noise cancellation glass to cut out not just engine notes but wind and road noise too.
On show in the Big Apple is a Premium Edition of the GT-R, which is just one of four unique trims available for the latest generation of Godzillas.
Those purchasing Premium models can choose from a variety of exotic leather colours such as Rakuta Tan, Amber Red, and Ivory.
2017 Nissan GT-R models are to start rolling into showrooms later in the year. Premium models are said to be available via select certified Nissan dealers with no mention of availability or prices for any of the trim levels.
