Last week, Kia revealed the all-new 2017 Kia Rio in a series of colourful sketches. They’ve gone one step further and fleshed at those drawings into a series of pictures giving us a first glance of what’s to come from the popular hatchback.
Entering its fourth generation, 2017 models expand by 15 mm in length allowing for extra legroom for all five occupants. Not only that, the hatchback grows by 5 mm in width and rolls on a 10 mm longer wheelbase that now measures in at 2,580 mm.
2017 models have been designed around the world with designers coming together not only in South Korea but Germany and The United States as well. What they came up with is a set of altered headlights, longer bonnet, new C-Pillar, longer front end and shorter rear all of which gives the hatchback a fresh new look ready to rival Volkswagen Polo and Ford Fiesta.
Inside, once again the designers have come together to create an up-to-date cabin that is not only visually impressive space but a comfortable one too. A new infotainment system with touchscreen application takes over from the ordinary CD player interface and what trim you use results in unique finishes inside including gloss black, artificial leather, fabric and metallic trim.
There are some details that remain a mystery; safety, technology and safety equipment but seeing as their sister brand is enhancing the Hyundai i10 in a massive way, expect similar features to pop up in the 2017 Rio. More details on the vehicle will be announced on the 29th of September and will go into production shortly after that.
