Chevrolet, Dodge and Ford have been battling it out for many years for dominance in the American coupe or ‘Pony’ car market, and it’s not limited to their home market either as they have spread around the world. Some say Dodge has a slight advantage with its Hellcat producing a mega 707 horsepowers.
However, recently leaked documents have Chevrolet biting back with their 2018 model lineup which includes the ZL1. Browsing through the document a few things stuck out to use here including the 650 horsepowers spewing out the new 6.2-litre supercharged V8 motor with 881 Nm of torque. It’s not 707, but it’s something right?
Power will be exclusively sent to the rear wheels via a variety of transmissions; 10-speed or an 8-speed automatic and a 6-speed manual.
According to the document, there’s an extra trim level; 50th anniversary that has exclusive paint, brake calipers, 20-inch rims with the mentioned birthday, Nightfall Grey Front Splitter and vehicle cover all of which is standard on this variant and optional extras on standard trims.
Additional features expand and now includes a new driver mode named ‘Teen’. Allowing car owners to limit performance, certain features of the vehicle and keeps all active safety features switched on. Sports pedals and an array of exterior body panels and exterior colours are on offer in this model trim.
Prices are set to start at over $60,000 or AED 220,377 for the upcoming Camaro ZL1. It is expected to launch in the coming months.
