When Lexus officially announced the new Lexus LX570 at the prestigious Concours D’Elegance last month, they also released what ES series sedans will come crammed packed with old and new gizmos and gadgets. Before all this, they gave us a glimpse of what’s to come at the Shanghai Auto Show early in the year.
Styling cues up front derive inspiration from 2016 LX570’s with a huge one piece grille and pincer-like LED fog lamps (think the new IS-series). Headlamps have been given the treatment too, now with a lower profile and more aggressive look to them. Not as much changed towards the rear end. The new Lexus tail lamps have found their way across with the L-shaped pattern to boot and chrome finishing now fits just right. If you’re looking for circular tailpipes, they’re gone. The trend is flattened into a more parallel shape. Chrome finish on said exhausts are here to stay.
We can confirm that two models are available in showrooms here in the UAE. Other parts around the globe also receive a hybrid power unit. Power in both models is sent to the front wheels with the engine mounted up front (obviously).
Model | Horsepower | Torque | Engine |
ES 250 | 181 hp | 235 Nm | Inline 4 cylinder / 2.5l Petrol |
ES 350 | 268 hp | 336 Nm | V6 / 3.5l Petrol |
What else is new? Well, leather upholstery inside has been upgraded for all to ensure the smoothest and most comfortable ride possible and best of all, an option to have the vehicle equipped with Lexus Safety System +. Within the package is a Pre-Collision Warning system, detecting pedestrians and animals via the front camera and sensors. The system will ease on the brakes if anything has gone unnoticed by the driver. Adaptive cruise control, lane departure assist and Intelligent high beam system are thrown into the mix too (one step closer to becoming an S-class!). Best of all, the safety package is available as an optional extra for a nominal fee.
10 exterior colours are on offer with four interior ones to choose from. Each come with a contrasting trim option such as Flaxen Brown with the increasingly popular matte-finished bamboo. 17-inch alloy rims are the norm with a variety of rim styles to choose from.
