2016 seems to be the year of the refresh and Chevrolet is no exception as their almighty Silverado has been given the refresh treatment. Recently unveiled in Texas, United States and no there was no car show there, Chevy decided to unveil at the State Fair of Texas in Dallas.
The refresh is notable up front with a new solid chrome or colour matching finished bar to separate redesigned headlights and indicators, a chunkier bonnet for a more muscular presence, revised bumper below the grille with high intensity LED fog lights and chrome inlets (available on certain models). Other ends and panels on the vehicle all look identical to 2015 Silverado pick-ups
For those who have Apple or Android phones out there, 2016 Silverado’s are set to receive the highly anticipated Apple Carplay and Android Auto. Sorry Windows Phone and Blackberry users, you’ll have to stick with standard Bluetooth pairing. Wireless charging is an optional extra as well, just simply place a compatible device in the compartment and let the device charge without cables. This is really cool, finally the phone is completely wireless! MyLink infotainment receives all important updates with faster processors and comes in either 7-inch or 8-inch displays.
Newly added optional extras include a Digital Steering Assist System which improves handling, stability and responsiveness of the pick-up whether it has cargo in the bed or not. A remote locking tailgate feature is available as well as a 4G LTE WiFi hotspot – a first for any pick-up in the market.
Eight trim levels are available starting with the standard Work Truck, LS, Custom, LT, LT ZR1, LTZ, LTZ ZR1 and the top of the range High Country. Power from the three engine choices is sent to either the rear wheels or all four, and as always there’s a choice between dual or single cab configurations ranging from two to six seats (that’s right, not five!).
Engine | Horsepower | Torque |

5.3 litre V8 | 335 hp | 519 Nm |
6.2 litre V8 | 420 hp | 623 Nm |
It’s unknown if all trim levels can be paired with all engines.
