Bentley has announced a new limited production vehicle built in conjunction with the Breitling Jet Team. This Continental GT Speed retains the standard W12 cylinder, six-litre twin turbocharged engine which powers all four wheels. The body carries an eye catching unique paint scheme.
How many will be produced? Handcrafted by the company’s personalised coach building division, Mulliner, the Bentley Continental GT Speed Breitling Jet Team Edition is limited to a production number of seven units. It is based on the same platform as the standard Bentley Continental GT Speed, which is Bentley’s fastest automobile made to date. It pays homage to the Breitling Jet Team who will be showcasing their breath-taking aerial flight manoeuvres in a grand tour spanning across Canada and the United States this summer.
Mulliner took inspiration from the Breitling team’s L-39 Albatross jets finishing. The exterior of the vehicle comes in two-tone Onyx and Hallmark with Breitling Yellow highlights making it stand out from the regular Bentley Continental GT Speed. This finish continues inside the car, including leather seats featuring luxurious yellow diamond pattern stitching with the rest of the interior sporting more of the unique Breitling yellow highlight scheme. A series of graphics and logos matching the aircraft which inspired the design decorate the headrests.
Generously spread carbon fibre has been applied inside the vehicle, including the centre console which houses the Breitling analog clock with a luminous highlighted yellow ring. You’ll also find he standard dashboard touchscreen infotainment screen with other regular components found in the Bentley Continental GT Speed. Just above the glove box on the passengers side, an image of the seven aircrafts in their trademark Avenger flight formation will be present. In each car, an individual aircraft will be highlighted in yellow for the one that the particular car is inspired by, the other jets remaining in white. This means that each of the seven cars will have a unique graphic.
Additional features include cooled and heated seats, keyless go, power front seats with memory functions, cruise and climate control seating four people. The gearbox will be the standard eight-speed automatic found in the high performance grand tourer coupe.
Adding to the exclusivity, each of the seven vehicles have individually numbered tread plate plaques inscribed with the number of limited production number of the car. The same applies for the headrests.
Bentley’s sophisticated limited edition creation will make a dramatic debut to the public in Seattle, USA, at the Boeing Seafair Airshow on the 31st of July 2015. There, the keys of each vehicle will be given to their respective owners by one of the seven jet pilots, immediately after they perform a quick flight in the jet that influenced the actual design for their bespoke tailor-made vehicle.
