Considering it has never built an SUV before, the Maserati Levante is an exceptional first attempt from the Italian luxury car maker. It has all the upmarket appeal that the company's saloons and sports cars have, while pricing is extremely competitive within the luxury SUV market. Power delivery is sublime from the V6 engine, with the engine’s brawn arriving at 5,000rpm – picking up speed quickly and hitting 0-100 in just 5.2 seconds. That’s as fast as the Cayenne GTS & is well matched to the ubiquitous eight-speed ZF gearbox and shifts cleanly up and down when left in auto mode.
