Ten years since it was launched, the Alfa Romeo 4C still turns heads & still has pulses beating! The 4C Constructed around a strong yet light carbon fibre tub with aluminium subframes front and rear. Steering is unassisted and the suspension by a double-wishbone arrangement at the front and MacPherson struts behind.
With the Launch Edition trim, offering unique paint colours, 18in and 19in forged teledial wheels in place of the standard cast 17in and 18in items, carbon-surround bi-LED headlights, specially calibrated suspension and a ‘Race’ exhaust at the back. Under the hood we find the mid-mounted 1.75-litre turbo petrol four-pot. Producing 237bhp and drives the rear wheels through, when it behaves, a lightning-quick, six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. 0-100km/h takes 4.5sec, but its in-gear acceleration impresses even more. In turn mounted to a six-speed twin-clutch automatic, which comes courtesy of the Dodge Dart. There's plenty to like about the Alfa 4C.
The Alfa 4C is exceptional fun on the road, and especially on a track. The taut ride, communicative steering, and upright seating position give the 4C a race car-like feel on the track. And on smooth pavement, the Alfa flows gracefully from corner to corner, its manual steering rack weighing up nicely, and its engine putting the power down extraordinarily well!
