On May 18, 1992, in the historic Ferrari factory in Maranello, a true masterpiece was completed: this Ferrari 512 TR in the iconic color Rosso Corsa.
The Ferrari 512 TR, a successor to the legendary Testarossa, embodies the essence of Ferrari's dedication to performance and style.
In April 1999, the 512 TR found its way to its new owner, René, a passionate enthusiast from the Netherlands who, together with his friend and Ferrari specialist Jan, had been searching for it for a long time. Jan had already owned a beautiful TR for a year and knew exactly what to look for. Although the purchase of the TR fulfilled a long-held wish, the two continued to dream of the even rarer 512 M. In the winter of 2000, Jan and René decided to realize their dream together: transforming the 512 TR into the 512 Modificata, or the F512 M. Jan, as an experienced Ferrari specialist with long-standing connections at Kroymans, had access to original Ferrari parts, but they were even happier when Kroymans provided them with the large blue Factory Manual, Modificata F512 M. This allowed them to fully convert their two 512 TR models to 100% factory-original specifications.
For both men, especially Jan, this was a challenging personal project, requiring extensive private time and precision. In early summer 2002, after two years of dedicated work, their dream came to life with the Ferrari 512 M in all its glorious splendor and precision.
Years of care and maintenance
Through the years, their love for the Ferrari 512 M remained strong. Regular maintenance and optimal, conditioned storage—alongside other Ferraris in the collection—kept the car in top condition. In February 2024, the car underwent a complete service, including the removal of the 12-cylinder engine, replacement of timing belts with tensioners, air and oil filters, crankshaft and camshaft oil seals, and adjustment of all 48 valves. While everything was accessible, the clutch, pressure plate, and release bearing were replaced, despite the existing clutch still having 45% life. This entire operation was conducted by the classic Ferrari specialist in Hilversum, Mugello Engineering, run by Wim van Eijk. The Ferrari 512 M is now ready for many more years of adventures and to fulfill the passionate dream of its next owner.

An iconic legacy: The 512 series
The Ferrari 512 TR is an evolution of the iconic Testarossa, one of Ferrari’s most beloved models. With better weight distribution and improved performance, the 512 TR became a worthy successor. But Ferrari didn't stop there. The unannounced introduction of the F512 M created quite a stir, as customers who had just ordered a 512 TR were surprised by the sudden arrival of the upgraded version. Ferrari offered to convert some TR models to the 512 M for certain owners, making these cars even more special.
Ferrari's pirit: From 512 BB to F512 M
The Ferrari 512 series has deep roots. The 512 BB, with its powerful 5-liter 12-cylinder engine, set the standard for future Ferrari models. The F512 M, the car in question here, is officially known as the Ferrari 512 M. This name refers to the legendary racer from the 1970s, a rival to the famous Porsche 917K. Ferrari's legacy, both on the road and on the track, continues to inspire admiration to this day.
The Testarossa: A cultural icon
Debuting at the 1984 Paris Auto Show, the Testarossa quickly became a cultural icon of the 1980s. With a rear-mounted five-speed transmission and a mid-engine layout, the Testarossa offered unparalleled stability and driving pleasure. The introduction of the 512 TR in 1992 brought improvements in weight distribution and performance, while the F512 M, introduced in 1994, became the definitive version of the Testarossa.
